Former three division champion, "Sugar" Shane Mosley, is in good spirits and says he is mentally and physically recovered from the twelve round decision loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr., which took place on May 1 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Mosley got off to a very good start when he rocked Mayweather very badly in the second round. By the third, Mayweather recovered and dominated the remainder of their fight.
Mosley is putting the Mayweather loss behind him, and is now scheduled to meet fellow California fighter, and former champion, Sergio Mora on September 18 at Staples Center in Los Angeles.
"I'm fine. I'm good. Like I said, spiritually, and, emotionally, just hanging out with the kids. It's been great. Just doing my own thing. I just want to get back into the ring and to get that feeling again. I just want to get into the ring and get back to fighting and to being myself. That's going to be a great feeling," Mosley said.
"I'm going to continue to work hard and win fights. I'm going to beat Sergio Mora, and then, I'm going to take on the next challenge, and the next challenge."
Should Mosley beat Mora in September, one fighter he would like face is unbeaten WBC welterweight champion Andre Berto. They were scheduled to meet on an HBO televised date in January. Berto was forced to withdraw in order to assist family members who were affected by the tragic events in Haiti.
"Berto is another option at 147. I could make the 147 pound weight class again. I can make 154. I can kind of go into different weight classes and still get away with it," said Mosley. "With Berto, I mean, we had agreed upon a fight with Berto before the Floyd Mayweather fight already. So if they want to go back to that, then, yeah, maybe we could do that fight because we had already had a deal."
