Marcus Morrison and Callum Johnson will look to keep up their unbeaten runs when they return to the ring next month.
The pair, who are trained by Joe Gallagher and campaign at super-welterweight and light-heavyweight, respectively, only fought just over two weeks ago.
But WBC International Silver middleweight champion Morrison (11-0, 8 KOs) and Boston’s Commonwealth gold medallist Johnson (14-0, 9 KOs) have been handed the chance to keep active after being added to a New York-themed night of boxing at Event City in Manchester’s Trafford Park.
The event, which takes place on June 18 and is sponsored by JD Sports, will be promoted by James Lindemann of Lindemann Sports & Entertainment Limited and is set to feature a fan Q&A with WBA lightweight world champion Anthony Crolla as well as a raffle and the chance to win a trip to the Big Apple.
Morrison & Johnson each improved their flawless ledgers on May 7 when they scored stoppages on the undercard of Crolla’s scintillating seven-round demolition of dangerous Venezuelan mandatory challenger Ismael Barroso at the Manchester Arena.
‘Sweet MNM’ ended the challenge of Brazil’s Jefferson Luiz De Souza inside two rounds to claim the aforementioned fringe WBC crown, while ‘The One’ –– who had been out since last June –– dispatched of the vastly overmatched Richard Horton in just 78 seconds.
The Gallagher’s Gym duo will be flanked by three further fights. Undefeated super-lightweight Adam Hague (7-0, 1 KO) will box over six rounds, while there is action for 34-year-old light-heavyweight Rob Hough (3-1, 2 KOs) and welterweight Ryan Oliver will make his professional bow.
