Attorney Victor Orobio has told the Panamanian press that Anselmo "Chemito" Moreno made a big mistake by signing a promotional contract with Golden Boy Promotions (GBP). Orobio represents Moreno's ex-manager Dr. Roberto Grimaldo. Orobio notes that Grimaldo contract over Moreno has yet to broken. The high court in Panama has placed a suspension on the managerial contract until the legal dispute is resolved between the two sides. According to Orobio, the suspension allows Moreno to accept fights, but he's not allowed to bind himself to new promoters or managers.
"First of all, let me make it very clear that Anselmo Moreno should not have signed the promotional contract, because his manager Dr. Roberto Grimaldo, still maintains a contract which is suspended. This suspension does not imply freedom and Moreno must first resolve his legal dispute with Grimaldo and then he can sign with anyone," said Orobio.
The representative of Grimaldo have contacted the World Boxing Association (WBA) to make a decision on whether or not Chemito is allowed to defend his super bantamweight crown.
