The injury suffered by WBO-interim bantamweight champion Eric Morel is no longer undisclosed. The Puerto Rican fighter says that he injured his right leg during a run and his doctor told him to stay off his feet for 22-days, which led him to withdraw from the fight with WBO full bantamweight champion Fernando Montiel.

They were set to finally fight on July 17 in Mexico. There was already two years of postponements with this fight. Morel's father and trainer Cyril Morel, and Gaby Peñagaricano, the legal counsel, claim they have sent all of the medical documentation to the Top Rank president Bob Arum, and the president of the WBO, Francisco Valcarcel.

"He was hurt while running. He fell to the floor. We took him to the doctor and found that his right leg was injured. I think the thigh and his back is sore. It's going to take some therapy to see if it improves but he will not be ready for the 17th. It is unfortunate but there is nothing we can do about it," said Cyril to reporter Reymund Colon.

Morel will be replaced by Rafael Concepcion.
