Two more Filipino boxers have been beaten, one in Thailand and the other in Australia but the dismal record was eased somewhat by the stunning first round knockout victory by super featherweight Ranee Ganoy over Australia’s Jungtar Min at Homebush Bay in New South Wales.
Ganoy put the hitherto undefeated Min away for the full count at :23 seconds of the opening round to break his string of three successive unanimous decision losses while Min who was coming off a second round knockout victory over Binnu Singh last August 27 suffered his first defeat. Ganoy’s countryman lightweight Rolando Gerongco was not as successful dropping a six round unanimous decision to Billy Dibb who had won his three previous fights by knockouts.
All three judges scored it for Dibb by a shutout turning in scorecards of 60-54, 60-53 and 60-54. Gerongco was coming off a unanimous decision lost in a WBC Asian Boxing Council featherweight title fight against Chonlatarn Pinyapino last July 9.
Over in Central Stadium in Pisanulok, Thailand, flyweight Robert Revilla suffered a third round knockout against hard-hitting Fahpetchnoi Sor Chitpattana who won his last two fights by the short route scoring an eighth round TKO over Along Dinoy last August 27 and a second round TKO over Joel Rodrigo last August 16. Rubillar, a southpaw, engaged Fahpetchnoi on fairly even terms in the first two rounds but the Thai connected with some brutal body shots and decked Rubillar almost at the end of the third round and he was counted out at 3:07.
