A huge festive crowd packed around the Monument of the Boxer on Reforma to witness the weigh in for Erik Morales and Scotland’s Willie Limond, a tad after high noon in the bright and burning sunshine of Mexico City.

Erik and his entourage dressed in strawberry red tracksuits swept in and to cheers, while Willie looking ripped and ready, signed autographs and had photos taken with fight fans. Both came in at exactly 65 kilos [143-pounds], and amicably stood side by side in a show of mutual respect.

There was appreciably more tension between Lightweights Daniel Estrada and Reyes Sanchez, both of Mexico City, who both weighed 61 kilos. Ana Maria “The Warrior” Torres and Germany based Alesis “The Tigress”Graf from Belarussia were a svelte 52 kilos a piece. While Edgar Sosa weighed 50.800 and Filipino Ryan Bito was lighter at 50.100.

Edgar Sosa who’s going for a third KO win since his comeback from injury, vowed he’ll win with a combination of intelligence and even more determination. He said Bito can be dangerous at close range and he’s going to land some hard body shots to test his resolve.

Edgar said that he’ll have one more fight, possibly in November and then go on to challenge for the Flyweight Title in the first several months of next year.

Fiesta Fight at Mexico City’s huge Plaza De Toros, is already a sellout.
