As reported on BoxingScene.com, the WBO ordered a purse bid for this coming Friday to place an immediate push for a fight between WBO bantamweight champion Fernando Montiel and interim-champion Eric Morel. The fight has been talked about since early 2009. The WBO is tired of waiting and wants the fight to happen. Montiel has to fight Morel or give up the full WBO title.

Cyril Morel, father and trainer of Eric, says it's about time the sanctioning body made their move but they took too long to act and there are issues with the fight location. Montiel wants the fight to take place in Mexico. Morel is refusing to go to Mexico and wants the fight to take place in the United States. Cyril claims Montiel's camp has turned down Puerto Rico, New York and San Antonio.

Morel was set to fight Jorge Arce on the June 26 undercard to Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.-John Duddy. The fight was canceled when Arce suffered a cut above his eye in training camp. Morel is still training and ready to fight Montiel.

"We have told Montiel's people that we do not want to go to Mexico. We are not going to take a risk with something happening to is there. There are 50 States where the fight can take place. Why have it in Mexico? When it finally happens, I have no doubt that it's going to be a good fight. Both of them have a good chance to win," the older Morel told Primera Hora.
