Top Rank placed the winning bid at Friday's mandatory purse bid for the WBO bantamweight fight between champion Fernando Montiel and interim-champion Eric Morel. The bid took place at the Affinia Hotel in New York City.
Among those present were Carl Moretti representing Top Rank, Peter Rivera from PR Best Boxing and Felix “Tutíco” Zabala from All Star Boxing. Top Rank put in the only bid. They put down the bid minimum of $100,000. Three proposed sites and dates were presented to the WBO - hich include Mexico on July 17th, Las Vegas on July 24th or Atlantic City on August 14th.
According to WBO president Paco Valcárcel , there will be an 80-20 split in favor of Montiel based on an average purse ratio of their last three fights. The promoters have three days to send both fighters the bout agreements and then both fighters have five days to sign the agreements and send them back to Top Rank and the WBO.
