WBO interim bantamweight champion Fernando Montiel is hoping that Vic Darchinyan beats Joseph Agbeko on July 11. Montiel wants Darchinyan to capture Agbeko's IBF title, and then the two of them could get together and unify their belts at the end of the year. Darchinyan, the current IBF/WBA/WBC super flyweight champion, moves up a division to meet the unbeaten Agbeko in a battle of punchers.

"I hope that Darchinyan catptures the IBF title and then has a unification fight with me," Montiel told ESTO.

Montiel returns on June 27, facing Eric Morel at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. The fight will be co-feature to Kelly Pavlik's defense of the WBC/WBO middleweights titles against Sergio Mora. Montiel says Morel is no pushover, and expects a very tough Mexico vs. Puerto Rico battle. The fight is going to be televised by Top Rank pay-per-view. Montiel has been chasing after Darchinyan since the two of them were both at super flyweight. Darchinyan has a made a name for himself by busting up several of the big names in Mexico, like Cristian Mijares and Jorge Arce. Montiel wants to avenge the Mexican fighters that Darchinyan beat.
