Universum has five title fights on their big show in Dresden on March 7 - with three European titles at stake. On top, Juergen Braehmer and Rachid Kanfouah clash for the vacant EBU belt. Alesia Graf gives Magdalena Dahlen a rematch for the WIBF and GBU super flyweight titles. Aleksy Kuziemsky faces Armin Dollinger in his first defense of the EBA light heavyweight crown. Thomas Ulrich makes his debut at cruiser and takes on Mariano Nicolas Plotinsky for the vacant WBO I/C title and finally super bantamweights Zsolt Bedak and Franklin Theran clash for the vacant WBO European title. Also on the bill is exciting flyweight prospect Pal Bedak and Russian light heavyweight Igor Michalkin.
Lolenga Mock´s defense of the EU super middleweight title against Spaniard Gabriel Campillo is tentatively set for Copenhagen on one of three dates - March 6, 7 or 8.
Sauerland Event´s First Lady, Cecilia Braekhus faces Vinni Skovgaard from Denmark on March 14 in Kiel for the vacant WBA and WBC welterweight titles.
Italian heavyweight Paolo Vidoz face Bulgarian Ivor Marinchev at home in Gorizia on March 7. It´s been reported this would be his farewell fight but there´s no official confirmation from Paolo.
The third comeback fight for former WBA super bantamweight champ Mahyar Monshipour is now set for March 13 in Amneville-les-Thermes. Opponent is former IBF super flyweight ruler Felix Machado from Venezuela.
Multiple female super middleweight champ Natascha Ragosina will have her first defense for 2009 set for Berlin on March 28. Ragosina has also been named female boxer of the year by the WBC.
The funeral for former heavyweight champ Ingemar Johansson goes ahead tomorrow in Gothenburg were he was born and raised. Johansson´s passing have been big news in Sweden and there are talks of raising a statue of the champ.
Universum celebrates its 25th anniversary on February 24 in the big gym at Waldoerferstrasse. Highlight of the evening is the comeback of "King" Artur Grigorian, former WBO lightweight champ. Universum have this far produced 29 male or female world champs.
