Junior welterweight contender John Molina (27-4, 22KOs) wants to get his hands on former three division world champion Adrien Broner (28-1, 22KOs). A few days ago, BoxingScene.com released Molina's 'diss track' on Broner .
In his last fight, Molina was stopped in the eleventh round of a 'Fight of The Year' battle with Argentine puncher Lucas Matthysse. Molina scored two knockdowns before Matthysse rallied in the second half to score three of his own for the eventual win.
Both Broner and Matthysse are returning in separate Showtime televised fights on September 6th. Molina would love to face either boxer on the date but prefers to face Broner.
Earlier this year there was talk that Broner would face Molina on the Floyd Mayweather-Marcos Maidana undercard in May. That didn't happen. Instead, Broner fought the light hitting, less dangerous Carlos Molina, who was coming off a significant layoff.
Molina believes that Broner, at least for the moment, is avoiding big punchers. Last December, Broner was dropped twice and took a lot of punishment in a twelve round defeat to Maidana.
"That's why I'm with Al Haymon who knows how to handle the whole business. I'm happy with whatever he says. I'm looking at any of those big fights at 140. I think the fans would love a rematch with Matthysse and I think fans would love a fight with Adrien Broner as well. There are a lot of question marks above Adrien Broner that need to be answered and I think that I'm going to give him those questions," Molina told BoxingScene.com.
"I believe, and again this is face value, I believe that he's trying to avoid punchers. I believe the fight can happen in due time. The 'Can Man' set himself up because he calls himself the 'Can Man' - he's not the 'Can Man' - he's more like the Tin Man. You build yourself up to be a certain person that you're not, you shouldn't do that."
