Mitch "Blood" Green (19-6-1, 12KOs), more famous for a 1988 Harlem street fight with Mike Tyson than any of his pro-fights in the ring, wants a shot at IBF heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko.
Green never had all of his marbles. He lost to Tyson by decision in 1986 and upon hearing that Mike was shopping in his neighborhood, he went to the streets to track Mike down for a rematch - and a rematch he got. Green made a decent payday for the non-sanctioned street brawl with Tyson. He would later sue the former champ and win a judgement of $45,000 dollars.
Even at 50-years-old, Green, inactive since 2005, is still the same wacky individual that heavyweight boxing fans of the 80's remember.
This is not really a news worthy item, but more of an item for comedy relief. During an interview on the state of boxing with sports writer/author Jeff Pearlman, Green began to call out Klitschko and WBO champion Shannon Briggs. Again, the statements of Green were just so wacky that I had to write about them.
"I'll beat Wladimir Klitschko with one hand!" Green said. "And I'd promote the fight real good! I speak Russian! Da! Da! Da! Ask me something in Russian! I know all the curses! Ask me! Hell, I would tear Shannon Briggs apart! I'd bust him up! You know what I call Don King! I call him him 'Donkey!' Get it! DK -- Donkey! Ha!"
"Remember this slogan! Remember it! 'Book 'em and I'll whoop 'em!' You can't stop Blood! I can bring boxing back! Da! Da! Da!"
