Two world-rated fighters, promoted or co-promoted by German Titov, are coming back to work at the end of this week at Titov’s main citadel, as one of the most storied Russian promoters is getting busy with his first huge show in a long time. On May 6, welterweight Dmitry Mikhaylenko and super featherweight Evgueny Chuprakov will co-headline a huge card at the DIVS arena in Ekaterinburg alongside with four more minor title fights.
German Titov is also a local promoter of the forthcoming and long-awaited homecoming of Super WBA, IBF and WBO light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev, which is pre-planned for this July. Titov, who works alongside his son Alexey, is best known for guiding local careers of such notables as Ruslan Provodnikov and Dmitry Pirog – among others.
30-yeard old Mikhaylenko (21-0, 9 KOs) is coming off virtually the same manhood as Pirog. He is 5-0, 3 KOs, since relocating himself to the States, which includes wins over Sechew Powell, Ronald Cruz, Johan Perez and Karim Mayfield. Mikhaylenko, who is ranked #5 by the WBA, #6 by the IBF, #10 by the WBC and #11 by the WBO, will contest a vacant WBC Silver 147lb title against dangerously punching Zimbabwean Charles Manyuchi (17-2-1, 11 KOs).
Manyuchi’s Africa-based (primarily in his native land and also in the RSA and Zambia) career wasn’t a roller coaster by any means up until the start of 2013, when he upset 14-0-1 Malawian Osgood Kayuni to kick off a nice series of wins over increasingly good opposition. After a unanimous decision over Kayuni, WBC #9 Manyuchi is 7-0, 7 KOs, which includes wins over 30-0 world-rated Ghanaian Patrick Allotey and his most recent TKO 6 over 23-2-2 Gianluca Frezza in his first battle outside Africa.
In a co-feature, WBO #5 and IBF #12 super featherweight Evgueny “Happy Gilmore” Chuprakov (15-0, 8 KOs) will risk his WBO European title against previously undefeated but untested Germany-based Pole Sebastian Tlatlik (10-0, 9 KOs). Tlatlik’s resume doesn’t match well with Chuprakov’s, who is coming off a unanimous decision over rugged Ukrainian Timur Akhundov (15-3-1), and whose best win came against former IBF champion Dmitry Kirillov one fight earlier.
Other fights with feature local prospects in minor title bouts against relatively solid opposition. Hard-hitting Magomed “The Black Lion” Kurbanov (6-0, 5 KOs) will contest a vacant WBC Asian Boxing Council Silver light middleweight title against tough Armenian Manuk Dilanyan (4-2-1, 2 KOs).
Super middleweight Andrey Sirotkin (7-0, 2 KOs), fresh off his win over Karen Avetisyan, will try to continue his success story versus Murad Dalkhaev (5-6, 2 KOs), who has never been stopped. A vacant WBC Asian Boxing Council super middleweight title will be at stake.
In a battle of 20-year old unbeatens, super featherweights Mikhail Alexeev (7-0, 3 KOs) and Filipino national (PBF) champion Romero Duno (9-0, 8 KOs) will define a holder of presently vacant WBO Youth 126lb belt.
Finally, another Filipino Rimar Metuda (10-0, 5 KOs) and Russian featherweight champion Mark Urvanov (6-1, 3 KOs) will clash for a vacant WBO Youth I/C 126lb title.
Other fights:
Vladimir Galchenko (3-0-1, 1 KO) vs. Alexey Kulikov (3-5-2, 3 KOs) – 8 rounds (MW)
Shavkat Rakhimov (4-0, 2 KOs) vs. Alexander Saltykov (10-32-3, 5 KOs) – 6 rounds (SFW)
Amir Tuleuov (1-1) vs. Vazir Tamoyan (3-0-1, 1 KO) – 6 rounds (LMW)
