The return of former champion Mikey Garcia (34-0, 28KOs) is getting closer, according to his brother and trainer Robert Garcia.
Mikey has been out of the ring since last January when he won a twelve round unanimous decision over Juan Carlos Burgos at super featherweight. Robert says his brother may return in August or September. There is still some debate on Mikey's next weight division, which appears to be a run at junior welterweight or potentially dropping to lightweight after his comeback.
The unbeaten boxer has been out of the ring while dealing with a legal suit against his promoter Top Rank. He tried to get out of his promotional contract and the two sides are working things out.
"I think his return is already at around 80 or 90 percent. He has been training, he has been sparring. We're going to fix everything, there has been progress. We've been able to communicate with Bob Arum. I hope that he comes back soon. I do not know if happens at the end of August or September," Robert said to ESPN Deportes.
