Mikey Garcia (34-0, 28KOs) is nearing his long awaited return to the ring. When he does come back, he'll be moving up at least one weight class.
The 26-year-old fight told BoxingScene.com that the plan is to return in the first quarter of 2015 in a tune-up bout, before setting his eyes on bigger fights.
"I want to come back, first fight when I do come back, at a catchweight between 137 and 140, somewhere in there," Garcia told BoxingScene.com. "That way I can find out if I can make 135, then I'll come down to 135. If I can't do it, I'll go up to 140."
"I can't guarantee that I'll make 135 first shot. I want to see how I feel first."
Garcia looked noticeably bigger, and either weight class would represent much better matchups than he was finding at 130 pounds. But 140 could be biting off more than he can chew.
