Former undisputed heavyweight champion Mike Tyson has advised WBA champion David Haye to avoid fights with the Klitschko brothers for the moment. He says Haye needs to establish himself in the heavyweight division by fighting the up and coming contenders before making a fight with either Wladimir or Vitali Klitschko.
Once Haye fights some top contenders, like Chris Arreola and some of the up and coming boxers from Eastern Europe, then he should make his move to challenge a Klitschko brother. Wladimir is defending his WBO/IBO/IBF titles against Alexander Povetkin on September 11. Vitali and Haye have yet to finalize their opponents for the fall.
He's good, he's a good fighter. He has to establish himself as a champion. Believe it or not, he has to beat the likes of Chris Arreola, he has to beat all these guys. He doesn't have to beat the Klitschko guys, he's got to beat the up and coming guys like Arreola and the Russian guys. He has to establish himself and then fight the Klitschkos," Tyson told Sky Sports.
