Editor's Note: In response to a BoxingScene newsbit that was posted a few days ago ( Click Here To Read ), Mike Tyson's agent has released an official statement to deny the claims.
Harlan J. Werner, President of Sports Placement Service, Inc. and agent to Mike Tyson, denied today that Tyson failed to board a plane in Los Angeles, CA, last week to honor a commitment for an advertised event using Tyson's name, despite various media reports to the contrary. Werner confirms that the UK company was trying to secure Tyson for a series of events, but the promoter never had a contract, nor did he make any kind of payments to Tyson whatsoever. He also stated that any promotion of this event was premature and was done without Tyson's written consent.
Werner had the following to say about the confusion: "Mike has a very loyal following in the UK and feels bad for anyone who was either mislead or inconvenienced. Unfortunately these types of rumors get started, when they are completely unfounded, and Mike wants to make sure that all his fans know that he never had a contract with this UK company that promised he was to appear on their behalf."
