Former heavyweight champions Mike Tyson and Buster Douglas had an unexpected reunion on Friday night in Rising Sun, Indiana. Promoter Nate Tubbs, an ex-fighter and brother of former heavyweight champion Tony Tubbs, has known Tyson since they were in the amateurs and he also worked as one of Tyson's sparring partners. Tubbs is promoting a weekend show at the Grand Victoria Casino, and to help he brought in Tyson and Douglas to take part in a meet and greet with fans.
Douglas said it was the first time that he and Tyson had seen each other, and spoken, since Douglas' huge upset of Tyson in 1990.
"That was cool. It was a long time coming," Douglas said to the Cincinnati News. "It meant a lot. I respect Mike, and the things that he is doing now are pretty great."
