Light heavyweight Mike Lee, who turned pro under the banner of Top Rank, will be appearing on a Main Events card for his next fight, though he has not signed with the promoter, according to a spokeswoman for Main Events.
No announcement has gone out yet as to when Lee’s next fight will be. His trainer, Ronnie Shields, told BoxingScene.com a couple weeks ago that Lee would be fighting April 4 in Philadelphia.
That would put Lee on the undercard to the NBC Sports Network card featuring a heavyweight main event of Steve Cunningham vs. Amir Mansour, and a light heavyweight elimination bout between Dmitry Sukhotsky and Anatoliy Dudchenko.
Lee hasn’t fought in about a year and a half. His last appearance was in September 2012, when he took a four-round decision over a 4-3-1 foe named Paul Harness. He had been scheduled to fight in December 2012 on the undercard to Nonito Donaire vs. Jorge Arce but pulled out.
At the time, TheSweetScience.com, citing an anonymous source from Lee’s camp, reported that Lee was “unable to compete because he is suffering from debilitating headaches related to the wearing of Invisalign braces.”
Lee, who is 26 years old, is 11-0 with 6 knockouts.
[NOTE: This article and its headline have been edited to clarify that Lee has not signed a multi-fight deal with Main Events.]
