READING, PA – Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions, in association with Peltz Boxing and King’s Promotions, will present a seven bout professional fight card on Friday December 5, 2008 in the Reading Eagle Theater at the Sovereign Center in Reading, PA.  Telefutura/Univision will televise the night’s action on its popular Solo Boxeo series, beginning at 8:00 pm. The first of seven live fights begins at 7:15 pm.

The ten round main event will feature unbeaten Philadelphia welterweight prospect Mike Jones (15-0, 13 KO’s) against Luciano Perez (16-8-1, 14 KO’s), the steel-chinned brawler from Chicago.  Jones, 25, recently won the vacant NABA welterweight belt with a sixth round knockout over Juliano Ramos of Brazil on August 29 at the New Alhambra in Philadelphia.  Currently ranked 12th by the World Boxing Association, Jones also earned a pair of eight-round decisions this year over Germaine Sanders and Gilbert Venegas. This will be Jones' fifth fight away from Philadelphia since turning pro in 2005.  His opponent, 30 year old Luciano Perez, has fought some of the best welterweights around. Last year Perez dropped a ten-round majority decision to former WBC welterweight champion Carlos Baldomir. He has also faced Richard Gutierrez, Carlos Molina, Jesus Soto Karass and Alfonso Gomez. Perez recently scored a second-round KO over Devin Lopez on September 19th in Cicero, IL and also has wins over Francisco Rincon and Carson Jones.

The night’s eight round co-feature will include Philadelphia's undefeated junior welterweight Rock Allen (13-0, 7 KO’s) against an opponent to be determined.  Allen recently scored a unanimous decision over Gilbert Vera on September 12th in Texas.  Allen was a member of the United States Boxing Team at the 2004 Olympics in Athens.  He was also the 2002 United States Amateur Light Welterweight Champion and National Golden Gloves Light Welterweight Champion.

Also featured will be undefeated junior welterweight Jason Cintron (9-0, 2 KO’s) of Reading, who is coming off a shocking upset over Philadelphia’s Tyric Robinson at the Blue Horizon on October 17th.  Jason is the brother of former IBF Welterweight Champ Kermit Cintron.  Two other exciting fighters from the Reading area are also scheduled in six round bouts.  Featherweight Lucian Gonzalez (8-4-1, 1 KO) and cruiserweight Julio Cesar Matthews (5-0, 4 KO’s) are both coming off action packed, crowd pleasing victories.  In addition, Philadelphia junior middleweight Latif Mundy will face an opponent yet to be determined, and Paul Fernandez of Philadelphia will face Puerto Rican native Esteban Rodriguez of Lebanon, PA in four rounds of featherweight action.
