According to former champion Antonio DeMarco (30-3-1, 23KOs), who is now working with trainer Freddie Roach, he might return in April against dangerous puncher Mike Alvarado. DeMarco and Zanfer Promotions have discussed the possibility of facing Alvarado on the undercard of Manny Pacquiao's return on April 12th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
DeMarco has won two fights in a row since getting stopped in eight rounds by Adrien Broner in a one-sided fight in November of 2011. Alvarado (34-2, 23KOs), who never disappoints when he steps inside the ring, was stopped in ten rounds by Ruslan Provodnikov last October.
DeMarco wants to get a title shot, sooner than later. He would like to face Provodnikov for the junior welterweight title. A fight with Alvarado would certainly measure his ability to compete with the heavy-handed hitter of 140.
