The lightweight champion of the International Boxing Federation (IBF), Mexico's Miguel "The Puppet" Vazquez (33-3, 13 knockouts), is still waiting for Yuriorkis Gamboa (23-0, 16KOs) to accept his challenge. Vazquez wants to prove to everyone who the best fighter is at 135-pounds. Vazquez is confident that he has enough skill and ability to defeat the Olympic gold medal winner from Cuba.
"I want Yuriorkis Gamboa to know once and for all who the best lightweight is in the world. I've challenged him to fight me. He says that no one wants the face him, and I've said the same [about myself], and hopefully now he will respond to my challenge. Gamboa, I respect him as a fighter, as champion, but I want us to fight. I challenge Gamboa to accept my challenge, and if he accepts I'm going to beat him," Vazquez said.
