The official challenger to the WBC super featherweight world crown, Miguel "Micky" Roman, will depart next week for Maywood, California; to get trained under renowned coach Rudy Hernandez, with an eye on November 3, when he will challenge for the green and gold belt currently held by world champion Miguel "Alacran" Berchelt.
The courageous big puncher started his preparation just a few days after his last commitment; and as always he is advised by Hernandez's team, knowing that at any moment they could officially announce the date of the battle with the 26-year-old champion of Quintana Roo.
Román Portillo, who is the world's number one at 130 pounds, will embark next Tuesday for the American Union to concentrate for two months with the sole objective of becoming the first world champion in history of Juarez.
"It's a fight that my team and I have been waiting for for some time, it's already dated and will take place on November 3 - when all of the statements are behind us - and once and for all it is clear who deserves to be the World Boxing Council world champion," noted the popular Roman.
"The formula with Rudy has given me results, we made a good level of work because he is a guy who cares about a complete preparation, which takes you with a nutritionist and a physical trainer to make you a work plan according to your needs and the demands of daily work, and that's why I decided to entrust the preparation of the most important fight of my life back to Rudy," concluded the pride of Ciudad Juarez.
The boxer has a solid record of 60 victories, 47 of them before the limit, in exchange for 12 setbacks; he has accumulated a positive streak of 20 knockouts in his last 23 meetings, and will appeal to his experience to aspire to become the new WBC champion.
