WBA welterweight champion Miguel Cotto say the upcoming battle with Antonio Margarito, set for Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, is going to be a great victory for the entire country of Puerto Rico. He considers the fight with Margarito one of the biggest in his career, but it means something special to him because of the great boxing rivalry between Puerto Rico and Mexico.
"I know that I'm facing a warrior in Margarito and I am conscious of what's at stake for both of us in the fight," Cotto told Primera Hora. "I feel good and I'm in good spirits. We are going through our normal routines in the gym to maintain the weight and I'm very focused on the fight. Without a doubt, this is going to be a victory for Puerto Rico."
Margarito has made it known that if Cotto tries to go to come forward, it will be an easy fight for him. He doesn't think Cotto will be able to handle his size and power. Cotto on the other hand is not focusing on a knockout, he plans to box and break Margarito down with each passing round.
