There were plenty of people doubting Miguel Cotto's chances of being able to get past fellow Puerto Rican fighter Carlos Quintana on Saturday night in Atlantic City, but the young superstar was able to pull through with flying colors. By winning the WBA welterweight title, his second title in his second weight division, Cotto hopes to one day rank among best fighters to come out of Puerto Rico.

"Puerto Rico has had many great champions -- Trinidad, Gomez, Ortiz, Benitez -- and I have always dreamed of being considered like them. Now, with two world titles, I hope that I'm on my way," Cotto said.

Cotto knows a lot of people were picking Quintana. He thanked all of his doubters as they made him work harder in order to prepare himself for the fight. Cotto crushed Quintana with a bodyshot to the liver in the fifth round of their contest, and Quintana was never able to recover from the blow.

"I want to thank everyone who was behind me for this fight and also to the ones who did not believe in me, because they motivated me to work even harder. I am happy and very proud of this win. I want to dedicate this win to all my fans, but especially to my mother Juana and my father Miguel Sr. who have always being in my corner."
