WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto (39-4, 32KOs) is going to make a decision regarding his next opponent very shortly. The frontrunner is Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (44-1-1, 31KOs), with May 2nd of next year as the target. Both sides have confirmed negotiations and also made it known that there were many issues that had to be resolved and agreed upon.
There are other options for Cotto, says his legal adviser Gaby Peñagarícano.
"There is no deadline, but I think [his plans] must be defined before the end of the year, or maybe early next year," said Peñagarícano to ESPN Deportes.
