Future plans of Miguel Cotto have not yet been defined. The four division world champion hopes to have a clearer picture in the coming days.
Bryan Perez, who is Cotto's right hand, said that they are waiting for Roc Nation executives to inform them of when and where the boxing event.
"Miguel will be back in the ring this fall. It is the plan we have with the promoter (Roc Nation). We are waiting for the information to be received so we know the next step for Miguel," Perez told Carlos Gonzalez.
Cotto has been away from the ring since last November, when he lost a unanimous decision to Saul "Canelo" Alvarez. That match was the second of three contracted fights with Roc Nation.
"Miguel always remains active, fit, doing his routines. He keeps working," Cotto explained.
It was speculated that Cotto would face Mexico's Juan Manuel Marquez in November - however, the negotiations did not progress because Marquez demanded that the Puerto Rican veteran drop down to 147 pounds. Various media have reported that Cotto will fight again in early December, possibly in Orlando or Miami, Florida.
"These are scenarios that are being looked. I can not yet say a definite date, but all of the scenarios are being considered for the fight to determine what makes sense financially [for Miguel] and for the fans. They are looking at all the scenarios and when the time comes they will make an announcement," said Perez.
Could this be Cotto's final fight of his career?
"Miguel feels good and it's whatever he decides," Perez said. "He (Cotto) knows what he has to do. He is a warrior and when the time comes, he'll know. If he decide to retire, it's fine. He still feels ready to fight, but he is not under any contractual obligation to make a fight."
