Former two-division champion Miguel Cotto has done some light training in the gym, but plans to begin his full training camp, to prepare for his February return, at the end of November or the start of December. The tentative return date for Cotto is February 14. Cotto's promoter, Top Rank's Bob Arum, has mentioned fellow Puerto Rican, Kermit Cintron (29-2, 27KOs) and Jesus Soto Karass (21-3, 15KOs) as possible opponents.

"I needed the rest and I'm not going to fight until next February. I've already [planned] to start training at the end of November or the beginning of December. I've used the time off to think about a lot of things, but I've rested my body and that's most important," Cotto told Primera Hora.

The plan of Top Rank is to stage a rematch between Cotto and WBA welterweight champion Antonio Margarito in June of 09. Margarito stopped Cotto in the eleventh-round of their July bout. Cotto wants the chance to get revenge.

"The rematch is something that is on my mind. If I'm not mistaken, my promoter wants it to happen in June of 2009. The date really doesn't matter to me because it's a fight that I want," Cotto said.
