With less than a week to go until he meets Antonio Margarito on July 26 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, WBA welterweight champion Miguel Cotto is calm and ready to go to war with his Mexican rival.
The recent photos coming out of Cotto's training camp show a cut, ready and defined body. Cotto says that his body has finbally matured at 147-pounds and the best thing that he could have did for his career is to move up to welterweight.
"My training camp has turned out well and my preparation has been excellent. I feel good as I look forward to this fight. I'm in very good spirits," Cotto told Primera Hora. "After each training day I rise in weight by a pound and average a loss of two-pounds during my training in the camp. My entrance to 147-pounds has helped me to eat better. We try to make the necessary adjustments with the weight and luckily this time we were already down."
Less than a week away and the media has built up the fight as a fight-of-the-year frontrunner and one of the best in the last few years. Cotto feels no pressure due to the hype and promises to bring home a win.
"This fight, they call it the most anticipated fight of the year. Because of that we have trained hard and I have no doubt that I'm going to obtain the victory. All of the fights mark a chapter in history and one step toward the goals that one desires to achieve," Cotto said. "On my end I don't feel the pressure. [Fighting], it's already become something normal for me after years of doing it."
