Who said Miguel Cotto can only sell tickets on the East Coast? The very anticipated showdown between Cotto and Antonio Margarito of Mexico, taking place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on July 26, is going to sell out in a blink of an eye.
Top Rank's Bob Arum informed the Las Vegas Review-Journal that 6,000 seating requests have already been received from Cotto's fans in Puerto Rico. The MGM Grand can hold up to 16,270 for boxing. Tickets don't go on sale until this coming Thursday at 10am. The prices are modest for a Vegas fight, with $700 being the most expensive seat in the house, and $100 being the lowest.
The paper also reports that Cotto has officially opened as a minus-220 betting favorite at MGM Mirage books, with the take-back on Margarito landing at plus-180.
