MORE LIVE RESULTS TO COME..............

Make it six knockout wins in a row for 24-year old Jr. lightweight Miguel Berchelt (28-1, 25 KO) since suffering a shocking first round loss March 2014. Berchelt had little difficulty Saturday night in a hometown main event at the Coliseo Yucatan in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico, dropping then stopping overmatched 28-year old Rolando Giono (17-7, 11 KO) of Santiago de Veraguas, Panama. The referee was Miguel Canul.

Berchelt dealt out a steady beating from the outset. By the third, Giono’s face was already looking beat up as he stayed under steady fire. A sweeping right hand dropped Giono to his knees and he quickly beat the count. All he got for his bravery was more leather, a stream of it that forced him hard into the ropes. Canul stopped the action at 1:50 of round three.

Berchelt is the mandatory challenger to WBO super featherweight champion Rocky Martinez.

In the televised opener, 21-year old middleweight Juan Montiel (19-2, 19 KO) showed off his clear power again in upending undefeated Ivan Montero (19-1, 8 KO) in three rounds. The referee was Miguel Canul.

A right hand dropped Montero hard early in the third and Montero struggled to signal he was okay to go on when he got up. Eventually he acknowledged the referee enough to get a chance but a Montiel salvo ended matters along the ropes at :47 seconds of round three.

The card was televised in the US on BeIn Espanol, promoted by Zanfer.
