Caracas - The Venezuelan champion Miguel "Aguacerito" Acosta, who recently captured the absolute lightweight crown of the World Boxing Association, met with representatives of the media in Caracas. He also received a fitting tribute on behalf of political figure Humberto Berroterán, on the steps of the Sport Book Premier Equestrian Center.

Also at the the side of the champion, local boxing promoter Pablo Suarez, co-manager Alberto Sarmiento and coach Ramos Orangel, and father/co-manager Oscar Acosta.

Acosta took the opportunity to thank everyone for the support he received before his last fight, which led him to become sole owner of the black and gold belt at lightweight, after beating previously undefeated Paulus Moses.

"It's too special everything that happened, and I am happy and satisfied. It was a great fight, and I was sure I was going to knock him out. I had a good training camp, and I kept what to what I had promised - to bring the title here. "

He recalled that: ¨When I arrived in Namibia, Moses was confident, but he did not know that I was here for 10 months training day and night," sparking laughter from the audience.

Still nothing is clear as to the first defense of the title, although there are rumors of possible opponents.

"They told us at the meeting in Panama with the WBA and Top Rank, our next fight willd probably be in September, but nothing is set for sure. It could be later, but we speculate it will happen that month because Miguel has agreed to return to the gym on July 1st," commented co-managers Oscar Acosta and Orangel "Memin" Ramos.

Oscar Acosta also told media members that his son's contract with Don King is no longer valid because the veteran promoter violated the agreement by not meeting the terms within the contract. They are trying to land under the banner of Top Rank.
