Caracas - Miguel Acosta met with the media in Venezuela, Caracas, and again reiterated that he feels very good about his upcoming defense of the World Association Boxing's lightweight title on the 26th of February in Las Vegas.
The meeting was held at Bongos restaurant, located in Las Mercedes, Caracas. There, the Venezuelan lightweight king spoke about his next opponent Brandon "Bam Bam" Rios, who he said is a tough and strong fighter.
Accompanied by his coach, Orangel "Memin" Ramos and his manager, Oscar Acosta, the champion emphasized that he felt good physically and mentally, and spiritually as well.
"I feel good for my first defense. To have the title again in Venezuela, I am committed to the Venezuelan people, who has followed my career."
He's had about 100 rounds of training so far, and a lot of different tactis were changed since the training camp for last May's win over Paulus Moses in Namibia.
"The idea is to hit and not get hit, that's what we're focused on."
Later he said, "I know Brandon Rios is going to come to fight, and will come at me like bull but he's going to run into a good bullfighter."
Acosta believes that Rios is a very strong fighter with a lot of strength but it is fairly static, so the preparation has focused on boxing.
