BoxingScene.com has confirmed that lightweight contender Mickey Bey (18-0-1, 9KOs) dropped out from his fight with Robert Frankel (30-12-1, 6KOs), which was scheduled for today's Top Rank event at Texas Station Casino in Las Vegas.
According Keith Kizer of the Nevada State Athletic Commission, Bey became upset after learning that his fight with Frankel was removed from the televised portion of the show - which ESPN will air as part of their Friday Night Fights series.
Obviously Bey will not get paid for not moving forward. Frankel, however, will receive his purse.
Bey has been inactive since last November, so the move to walk away, after a full training camp and making weight on Friday, may not have been the smartest play.
