Brendon Smith, manager of WBO interim-lightweight champion Michael Katsidis, wanted BoxingScene.com to know that he wants a possible fight with unbeaten British fighter Kevin Mitchell to take place in Australia. Katsidis has not fought in Australia in four years. The WBO gave both camps until mid-March to reach a deal but Smith wants the fight to head to a purse bid because he doesn't think a deal will be reached where Mitchell will end up in Australia.

"There has been correspondence and I don't believe an agreement will be reached and therefore I have called for the purse bid to be brought forward,'' Smith said.

"From what I can see of him, he reminds me a lot of Michael and I believe that he would have no problem to come down to our backyard if he has to fight for a world title. What a great fight for Australia."
