Michael Jennings, 31, has stoked the flames ahead of his proposed British welterweight title fight with Kell Brook by asking who the man from Sheffield has defeated thus far in his career. Chorley, a British and WBU titleist, recently fought Miguel Cotto, a five-round loss, the man from Chorley believes that his title experience will prevail come fight night.
Jennings stated his case when talking to the Lancashire Telegraph. “Brook’s a good kid and he’s done well to win a Lonsdale belt outright. But let’s be honest, who has he really fought?” asked Jennings. “It’s not until now that he’s met someone who can stand up to him, and believe me I will do. Everyone is talking about him as the future of British boxing, but I’ll take him to school.”
Jennings is known as ‘The Lurcher’, he has had one comeback fight since the shellacking against Cotto, a routine stoppage win over Willie Thompson in May; however, Kell is in his prime, the man from Chorley could be lurching into one hell of a tough fight.
