UK welterweight Michael Jennings will have thousands of Puerto Rican fans chanting for his head when he steps in the ring with Miguel Cotto for the vacant WBO welterweight title at New York's Madison Square Garden. The loss of two brothers and a close friend will add to Jennings' motivation to win. Few are giving him a shot to win, but Jennings is not coming to lay down. He wants to make history by bringing the title back to England.

Jennings respects what Cotto brings to the ring. He feels that his style will present some problems to Cotto.

"Miguel Cotto is a fighter. I have all the respect in the world for him. He's a brilliant fighter without a shadow of a doubt. If I went into that ring thinking anything else, I would be a fool. They could say what they want, but I know what I'm going to do in the ring on the night of the fight. I'm not your typical British fighter," Jennings told BoxingScene.com's Francisco Guzman. "I've got good footwork, good hand speed, good fitness and stamina and I plan to use all of them to my advantage."

One of his idols, Joe Calzaghe, took a 15-year journey before he was able to headline a card at MSG. Jennings has been able to do it in less than ten.

"That's how I do it. I don't do things little. Everything I do I seem to do it big. My first time in America, at the Mecca of boxing, and on top of the bill as well. I couldn't ask for anything else could I. Straight to the top. I coming over for a fight, to do my fans proud," Jennings said.
