Michael Dutchover has displayed an improved skill-set in recent fights. He still has a penchant for scoring highlight-reel knockouts.
Friday night was another example of that.
Dutchover (10-0, 7 knockouts) scored an emphatic one-punch knockout victory over Sergio Ramirez at the Doubetree Hotel in Ontario, California.
The 20-year-old Dutchover, who is originally from Midland, Texas and now resides in the Los Angeles suburb of Santa Fe Springs, landed the more-telling blows in the opening round.
Midway through the second round, Dutchover landed an overhand right to the chin, dropping Ramirez flat onto his back. Referee Ray Corona immediately stopped the fight.
Dutchover is one of Thompson Boxing Promotions' top unbeaten prospects. He is trained by Danny Zamora and has sparred the likes of Oscar Valdez.
Ramirez, who resides in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico, drops to 5-3, 5 KOs.
In a clash of unbeaten junior featherweights, Mario Hernandez, who resides in nearby Santa Ana, won a six round unanimous decision over Jonah Flores (5-1).
Hernandez goes to 7-0, 3 KOs.
Another junior featherweight remained unbeaten on the Thompson Boxing Promotions card. Miguel Alcantara (6-0, 2 KOs) defeated Francisco Javier Lapizco (8-7, 2 KOs) by unanimous decision over four rounds.
In a four round bout featuring heavyweights making their pro debuts, Jason Soto (1-0, 1 KO) knocked out Samuel Perez (0-1) in the opening round
