A bantamweight fight with title implications between Michael Angeletti and Eros Correa will now be the main event of Saturday’s ProBox TV event at the Boeing Center at Tech Port in San Antonio, Texas after the original main event fell out.
Angeletti tipped the scales at 117.8lbs, while Correa came in at 118.0lbs weight limit.
Angeletti, 13-0 (8 KOs), from Spring, Texas, will find himself getting top billing in his home state. The 28-year-old laid his grandfather to rest Sunday and now will be featured in the most high-profile fight of his career. Angeletti last fought in February, knocking out Judy Flores in the third round at the same venue, and he enters the fight ranked No.15 by the IBF.
Correa, 15-1 (9 KOs), the 32-year-old from San Jose, California, enters on a five-fight winning streak after his lone defeat to Katsuma Akitsugi in 2021. Corea's last fight was an eight-round unanimous decision over Jose Saant in March.
Lightweight Justin Pauldo, 18-2 (9 KOs), coming off a career-best knockout of former junior lightweight titleholder Shavkatdzhon Rakhimov in February, was the original main event. Pauldo, the 30-year-old from Houston, was set to face Juan Carlos Burgos, 36-8-3 (22 KOs), a 37-year-old from Tijuana, Mexico, but Pauldo was unable to make the contracted weight and the two teams could not come to an agreement for the bout to continue.
