Former three time welterweight champion Antonio Margarito will be in Las Vegas to catch Manny Pacquiao vs. Miguel Cotto on Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Margarito is taking part in a meet and greet in Vegas on Friday as part of Cerveza Tecate’s Mobile Boxing Ring promotion. Margarito handed Cotto the only loss of his career last July. The win is now in question with many insiders wondering whether or not Margarito manipulated his hand wraps for the fight. Margarito's suspension runs out at the start of 2010 and he is expected to apply for a new license and fight by March.
According to Mexican sources, undefeated welterweight prospect Saul Alvarez (29-0, 22KOs) is still scheduled to fight Lanardo Tyner on December 5 in Los Angeles, California. There is still some confusion with the exact venue. Alvarez, 19-years-old, is said to already be in training.
Edgar Sosa is going through a tough training camp for next Saturday's defense of the WBC flyweight title against tough Filipino Rodel Mayol. In the last days, Sosa went through eleven and twelve round sparring sessions with different partners integrated in at the Diaz Miron boxing gym in Mexico City. He is also going through his usual 40 minute runs in the mountains.
