Junior middleweight contender Jorge 'Destroyer' Melendez (27-3-1 , 26KO's) has promised to punish Alfredo 'El Perro' Angulo (22-3, 18KO's) in their Puerto Rico vs. Mexico battle on December 14th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The main event will feature a welterweight encounter between Marcos Maidana and Adrien Broner. Showtime Pay-Per-View is going to televise the card.

According to Melendez's manager Edwin Diaz, the fight has yet to be finalized because both sides have not reached an agreement on the financial terms. Melendez is not satisfied with the money being offered.

"We are not asking for an excessive sum. We are asking for what we know [he should be paid] to fight him and we are still below what we know the fight is worth. Destroyer vs. El Perro will steal the spotlight that night. The people and boxing critics want it. This fight could be the fight of the year," said Diaz.

Melendez hopes a deal can be reached because he vows to end the run of Angelo, who returns from a TKO defeat to Erislandy Lara.

"Believe me, I coming for the kill and I'll the people of Puerto Rico a great victory. I'll put my little island back on the boxing map when I retire Alfredo 'El Perro' Angulo. I have no doubt it will be a war, but it will be won by a Puerto Rican who does not run. I have the best punch of the division and if Angulo comes out aggressive - he will feel the destruction. Perro will go down squealing with his tail between his legs," Melendez concluded.
