Light heavyweight Medzhid Bektemirov remained undefeated at 11-0, 9 KOs after stopping Curtis Howell (3-3, 2 KOs) in the second round at the Bayou City Events Center in Houston. Despite having a considerable height and reach advantage, Howell opted to trade instead of box and he quickly paid the price.
Moments into the opening round, Bektemirov, 25, dropped Howell with a left hook to the chin. Another left hook followed by a shoulder block sent Howell, 31, to the canvass again, but the referee determined it was the push rather than the punch that caused the knockdown and ruled it a slip. Just before the bell a left uppercut-overhand right combination felled Howell once again. He beat the count but the writing was on the wall.
Bektemirov relentlessly stalked Howell across the ring in the second unleashing bombs to the head and body with murderous intentions. He was soon able to pin Howell against the ropes where he rained a volley of unanswered power shots, prompting the referee to step in and wave it over.
In the main event, heavyweight Nagy Aguilera (18-7, 12 KOs) won a unanimous six round decision over Zack Page (21-43-2, 7 KOs). Aguilera appeared to drop Page along the ropes in the opening frame but it was ruled a slip.
