On the eve of Bernard Dunne's (23-0, 14KOs) second defense of the European super-bantamweight title, Wayne McCullough (27-6 18KOs) has called for a bout with his fellow irishman, and friend.
McCullough, who's been away from the ring since a knockout loss to Oscar Larios in 2005, is ready to get back in the ring and told the Irish Independant that a bout against Dunne, in Ireland, would spell for huge dollars.
"Business is business and a fight between myself and Bernard would be huge. In Ireland it would attract a big crowd and American television would be very interested as well. I'm sorry that I had to pull out of the Dublin show. But I am still in training and I'm looking to get a couple of wins and then I would be ready for a big fight," McCullough said. "Bernard is a friend and I would shake hands with him before and after but boxing is a business and it would be one of the biggest fights that Irish boxing has seen."
