UFC featherweight and lightweight champion Conor McGregor has come swinging back at Floyd Mayweather Jr. (49-0, 26KOs). The MMA superstar is claiming that Mayweather is afraid to face him in the octagon, so he will accept a boxing match - if he gets $100 million for the fight.

On Tuesday, Mayweather took several shots at the UFC's biggest superstar - featherweight and lightweight champion Conor McGregor - who  made UFC history last Saturday night at New York's Madison Square Garden, after knocking out Eddie Alvarez to become the first fighter to hold two UFC titles in two weight divisions.

Mayweather, 39-years-old, retired from boxing in September 2015 but was recently considering a bout with McGregor. The two fighters were going back and forth through social media for weeks. Nothing ever happened and any talk of them meeting disappeared overnight. In recent weeks, the two fighters have started mentioning each other once again.

Mayweather took offense when a reporter advised him that McGregor was being called "the Floyd Mayweather of MMA." Mayweather wanted everyone to know that McGregor is not in the same universe when you compare their careers or bank accounts.

"I didn't know Conor McGregor was undefeated. I didn't know Conor McGregor had a reign in MMA for 20 years and had world titles in five different weight classes. That's something I had done. So I guess you guys are telling me something new, I mean if you’re saying he’s the Floyd Mayweather of the MMA, I’m trying to find out. Have you ever made $300 million in one night? Have you ever made $100 million in one night? Have you ever made $70 million in one night?," Mayweather told TMZ Sports.

"So as far as you wanna say he’s the Floyd Mayweather of the MMA ... I mean, I mean it’s okay to just say it, it’s not true. Never compare Conor McGregor to me, it's a total disrespect. Once again, I'm an elephant. An elephant don't beef with ants. An elephant is so large he don't see ants."

McGregoe cam firing back, shouting that he wants $100 million and he'll fight Mayweather under traditional boxing rules.

"Floyd’s not ready for this. Much respect to Floyd, he’s a solid businessman. What he has been able to do, he’s a f***ing animal at what he’s been able to do but as far as real fighting, as far as true, pure unarmed combat — Floyd don’t want none of this,’ McGregor said.

"He does not want none of this. Tell Floyd and Showtime, I’m coming. Tell him to go to them Showtime offices. I want $100 million cash to fight you under boxing rules cause he’s afraid of a real fight.’
