Middleweight contender Craig McEwan was preparing to fight former champion Kassim Ouma on the non-televised portion of the Floyd Mayweather-Victor Ortiz undercard, which takes place this coming Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. McEwan says the fight was canceled after Ouma requested additional money at the late hour. Golden Boy Promotions will attempt to place McEwan on a UK event being staged by promoter Frank Warren in November.

"I was totally fired up for my scrap with Ouma. It was a major chance for me to reestablish myself in the American ratings after losing for the first time as a pro in America against Andy Lee. I was actually packing for my flight back to the US when the phone rang and I heard the Ouma fight was off," McEwan told The Scotsman. "Golden Boy have told me that the best I can hope for now is a fight on a Frank Warren-promoted show in November."
