Kevin McBride, fresh from his upset win over Mike Tyson, may land a title shot against WBA heavyweight champion John "Quiet Man" Ruiz.

"There have been discussions about the fight taking place. The big issue is whether or not there are options on McBride's next fight. We don't know yet if the promoters from the Tyson fight have options on him, we should know more later in the week." said Ruiz manager Norman Stone to BoxingScene

Vitali Klitschko was the last fighter to capitalize on a Tyson defeat to an unknown opponent. Danny Williams upset Mike Tyson last year when he stopped the former champion in 4 rounds. The Klitschko camp immediately jumped on the opportunity to fight Williams while his name was still hot. The fight was a pure mismatch, Klitschko battered Williams in every round, knocking him down four times on route to an 8th round stoppage.

The city of Boston, Massachusetts, home to both McBride and Ruiz, is clamoring for the "hometown rivalry" bout to happen in their city.

"The city (Boston) really wants this fight, you have the rivalry factor." said Stone
