Mayweather vs Mosley Clash in The Works, Says Schaefer

With Andre Berto having pulled out of his Jan. 30 fight with "Sugar" Shane Mosley because of the massive earthquake in Haiti, Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer said Monday afternoon he is already trying to put together a fight between Mosley and Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Mayweather was scheduled to fight Manny Pacquiao on March 13 at MGM Grand in Las Vegas, but that fight fell apart over Mayweather's request for Olympic-style drug-testing for both fighters.

"I know this is the fight Shane wanted and I know it is a fight Floyd wanted as well," said Schaefer to BoxingScene.com. Golden Boy promotes Mosley and has a working arrangement with Mayweather. "So now I'm going to work and see if we can put that fight together."

Schaefer and Golden Boy still have the MGM Grand reserved for March 13 for Mayweather. But Schaefer wouldn't say whether Mosley-Mayweather would fill that date, or a different one, such as May 1.

"I think the first thing is going to be to see if a deal structure can be done, and then worry about the date," Schaefer said. "Floyd Mayweather against Shane Mosley is one of the biggest fights in the sport. They are two superstars, it would be a pick-em fight.

"The date will fall into place, but the first thing is to find a deal structure that is acceptable to everyone. That is what I'm working on."

The manufacturers Xylocaine discontinued it years ago. I thinks its safe to say he wont be coming into the ring using it and you havent done your homework.

C'mon you cant be serious about this post.Floyd has NO OTHER OPTION .Put it this way chuck, 1. mosley will take the tests 2.No other opponent then mosley vs floyd will rake in more $$$,$$$,$$$$. 3.Saul alvarez who??? Talk abt respect. Would you rather him fight Alvarez or something? He could, and he would still make a ton of money. You should give him props for going for Mosley(if he does) instead of being a dickhead. How many people on here said he is a ***** and would never fight Mosley? Im guessing you were one of them and now you are bummed you were wrong?

I hope this fight pushes through then, Mayweather can ask for Olympic style drug test. If Mosley doesn't want to take, then Mayweather is ruined. But if he does, ( which i think he will because he's also under Golden Boy promotions) then Mosley should include xylocaine to be banned in Nevada as well, just like in the other 49 states. If Mayweather wants a fair fight , then fight without the use of xylocaine drug which is BANNED in 49 states.

Even if this fight were to happen and I hope that it does, it still won't silence all Mayweather's critics. After he beats Mosley, which I fully expect him to, you'll still have those naysayers bitching and moaning about how Mayweather fought a "past his prime" Mosley and that instead of Mayweather ducking him all those years ago should have fought Mosley in his "prime". Mayweather can't win for losing with these haters. Because that's what haters do. They hate!
