MGM Grand, Las Vegas, Nevada - BoxingScene.com and other members of the media caught up with WBC/WBA/WBO welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather shortly after Shawn Porter defeated Adrien Broner on Saturday night.
Mayweather Promotions promoted the event that was televised by NBC. The telecast opened with undefeated welterweight prospect Errol Spence (17-0, 14KOs) stopping late replacement Phil Lo Greco in three rounds.
Spence has served as one of Mayweather's sparring partners in some of his previous camps and has received a lot of praise from the five-division champion.
Mayweather is so high on Spence that he would like to see him face undefeated WBA "regular" welterweight champion Keith Thurman or former champion Shawn Porter on his September 12th undercard.
Even if he can't get one of those opponents, Mayweather said Spence will definitely be on his undercard.
"Absolutely. I got to have him. He's fighting for sure in September on my undercard. He's fighting on pay-per-view. Now if one of those guys want to step up and fight him for one of my belts they can do that.
"If not, he's going to fight another opponent but I'm going to make sure he is going to fight for that title. We've been talking and communicating for a long time and I think we can make it happen," Mayweather told BoxingScene.com.
