When it comes to a possible fight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr., the latter’s father Floyd Sr. has no doubt what the holdup is.

Speaking from Johnny Tocco’s on the east side of Las Vegas yesterday afternoon, Mayweather took some time to share his thoughts on his son’s career, downplaying the recent rumors that had leaked of a possible fight against junior middleweight champion Miguel Cotto while also noting that Pacquiao has no true interest in facing Floyd Sr.

Pacquiao is said to also be looking at fights with Juan Manuel Marquez, Timothy Bradley, Miguel Cotto, and Lamont Peterson, yet Senior had no real interest in any of the four.

“His option is that he’s scared,” Floyd Sr. said of Pacquiao. “That’s his option. I aint got to say nothing about none of them opponents, because he is scared. I know he is scared.”

Mayweather Jr. took to his personal Twitter account earlier this week and called for Pacquiao to accept a challenge of a May 5th fight, even calling the Filipino fighter a ‘punk’. Floyd Sr. feels that the simple fact that Pacquiao didn’t return those verbal barbs with any conviction shows that he has no interest in such a scenario and had the same words been said to him, he would have been ready to thrown down immediately.

“Oh hell yeah. I’ll be ready to fight right there. Don’t wait til’ May, we can do it today. Aint no holdup with me, sh!t,” Floyd Sr. continued.

Pacquiao’s promoter, Top Rank boss Bob Arum, has taken some heat in recent weeks for what people believe to be his lack of interest in matching his star fighter with Mayweather.

Talks of a nasty cut above Pacquiao’s right eye and having to complete an outdoor stadium for the fight have come from Arum, who insists that May 5th would simply be too soon.

Floyd Sr. isn’t buying it and feels that Arum already knows what would happen if the fight came off.

“Of course he’s afraid to put Pacquiao in there,” Senior continued. “Bob Arum is alright with me, but it is what it is. The thing is, they aint trying to see Floyd by no means necessary. And the whole reason they aint trying to see him? Because they’re scared. Because they know what’s going to happen. They know what’s going to happen before it happens. They already dreamed up this sh!t.”

And while it has been the Pacquiao faithful who often claimed that Mayweather Jr. was doing the ducking, Floyd Sr. feels that they were wrong all along.

“They’ve been talking all the time,” said Papa Floyd. “They even got T-Shirts in the store, talking about ‘Run Floyd Run’ from Pacquiao. We need to put the same T-shirts up in the store, ‘You better keep running Pacquiao’. But he didn’t just start running, he’s been running.”
