Floyd Mayweather Sr. is angry at the continued praise of trainer Freddie Roach. The two fomer fighters, now trainers, have always been at odds. Mayweather Sr. is questioning why his brother, Roger Mayweather, has never been awarded with any yearly honors for his training work with five division world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. Roach, mainly for his work with Manny Pacquiao and Amir Khan, has won several "trainer of the year" awards. Mayweather Sr. thinks Roach's work with Pacquiao and Khan is overrated and another trainer should finally get his just due with the yearly honors.
“He hired Freddie Roach as a trainer. I’m tired of all this bulls**t man, I’ve been telling all y’all for a while that Freddie Roach ain’t no f**kin trainer man. I saw the fight [with Lamont Peterson]. I could’ve done a lot different with Amir Khan. Let’s be honest. I would love for everyone to watch me train, and then go ahead and watch Freddie Roach train. He’s won all these awards all because he has all this politic bulls**t going on," Mayweather told boxingtalk.com.
"Lil' Floyd was the top pound for pound fighter for a long time, and nobody ever won an award for training him. What the hell is going on? Why didn’t my brother win an award for training my son? Freddie Roach teaches Pacquiao to throw a straight left, and double hook. That is it. That is his whole day of training. He does it over and over again, and has nothing else. If you going to be fair, give another trainer a chance instead of giving it to this guy and the same fighter over and over.”
